JULIA
DUAX-SKOP creates
wearable art jewelry made primariliy of hand worked glass. She torch-works,
blows and kiln-fuses elements using both soda-lime and borosilicate
glasses. Her design has been said to "inhabit the borderlands
of the modern and the primitive" and much of her work is derived
from her "exploration into the physical nature of glass iteself."
Duax-Skop draws heavily upon the tradition of italian glass working
technique, incorporating these methodologies into design which is
"solemnly surprising and classically modern." A hallmark
of Duax-Skop's work is her ability to successfully sculpt soft glass,
pushing the inherent physical limit of the glass. Duax-Skop's work
is shown in galleries internationally.
